In construction, a single good decision can pay back every day of the job. A good laydown yard is one of them.
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glulam bundles can be packed in assembly order, but they still need room to land, and double handling is what eats an assembly schedule. On one project the answer was a secure storage yard a couple of miles from a tight site; the container was unloaded there and panels moved to the crane as needed.
Mountain lots are often steep, narrow, or shared with a neighbor’s driveway. We plan the yard, the crane position, and the delivery sequence together, before the first truck is booked. The same thinking applies to the smaller deliveries, starting with the windows.
