Packaging windows for the site

A procurement plan is a handling plan. The goal is to minimize site handling, reduce risk, and make every delivery land where it is needed.

On a recent hospitality project the windows were crated unit by unit: fifteen robust crates for fifteen buildings, each crate holding exactly the glazing for one structure. The crew opens one crate, installs one building, and moves on. Nothing is sorted on the ground.

It sounds obvious. It is also the difference between a clean install week and a week of searching a laydown yard.

With the bundles and crates where they belong, the crew starts joining parts, and every joint is a connection. That is the next series, How it holds together.
