Why the modern A-frame works

No small building offers as much impact as a modern A-frame: a tall interior, a glass gable, and timber everywhere you look. For resort construction it is a strong choice.

Structurally it is straightforward. An A-frame uses fewer elements per square foot because the roof panels can be sized to the maximum, and it is missing most of its walls. The crane sequence is short.

Living in one full time is another matter. The sloped walls take space, and the glass gable takes heat. If you are considering it as a primary home, talk to people who have done it; we can make the introduction.

As a kit, the A-frame keeps getting more efficient. The next part shows how far.
