The window package is part of the structure

In a kit-of-parts building, the windows are not a finish item. They close the shell, so their sizes, rough openings, and installation details have to be settled before the panels are cut.

A Scandinavian triple-glazed package on a recent project made the case. Converting to European window standards takes some learning, but the quality is a step above, and the delivered cost came in below a domestic double-glazed, contractor-grade alternative. The crates arrived ready for a clean install.

For an exposed CLT wall the window box is also a visible detail. Getting it right in the model is what makes the finished opening look intentional.

With the openings settled, the next layer is insulation, and where it goes matters as much as how much.
